That I only got to know it much later in my life, while playing Gradius V...

Thanks for the comment! :)Edwardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17491361099947592597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8742813618758333424.post-42899677414827209012016-02-26T09:02:44.535-03:002016-02-26T09:02:44.535-03:00Gradius II really schooled me in the art of side-s...Gradius II really schooled me in the art of side-scrolling shooters, so I had to resort to a rather unusual strategy: I power-up to 4 options for level 3 and then I let the option hunter take way one of them at the beginning of level 4, preventing him for pestering me for the rest of the game, while mantaining my firepower.

My favortie setup was Ripple + 2-way missle, for coverage and especially for the last stage. On my best run, I actually died at the mechanical spider and unintentionally 'milked' that last part haha , but managed to recover and achieved a much deserved 1cc ( my first for a Gradius game ).

Such is the beauty of Gradius - it forces you to be better, to be faster and to perservere, while offering flexibility in the gameplay. But you know that already :P

Abraços!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12692514549217982912noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8742813618758333424.post-77357392062209530212015-11-19T15:26:42.198-02:002015-11-19T15:26:42.198-02:00Yes, sometimes I'm a masochist, Sinful :P
hehe...Yes, sometimes I'm a masochist, Sinful :P
hehehehe

Interesting note about the intro movie, thanks!Edwardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17491361099947592597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8742813618758333424.post-54342292190017020502015-11-19T14:30:03.626-02:002015-11-19T14:30:03.626-02:00For a sec I thought you picked the 2-Way missile R...For a sec I thought you picked the 2-Way missile Ripple Lazer ship since that would of been more different...

It's also weird that your first two playthroughs were with the two least popular & weakest ships in the game. Is that the hidden masochist instinct in you?

Pro-Tip; Intro FMV runs at 15fps, but if you hold up or something on the D-Pad, you can get it to run at 30fps, and what a difference. (PS. Don't ask me why this isn't the default)

And you might not of had to resort to MAME for practice since this version has stage select and powerup cheat codes; http://www.gradiushomeworld.co.uk/cheats.php?system=PS

- SinfulAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
