I have no idea how the other games in the series play, except for one of the Master System ports.

I wanted to try the arcade version first because when I finally play the ports I can compare them more accurately with the source. That's what I have done for a while now, whenever possible. I'll be playing the Mega Drive Monster Lair next month for the Sega-16 2014 completion campaign. Here's hoping it's not as tough as this one!Edwardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17491361099947592597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8742813618758333424.post-21081414264647801572014-11-22T13:53:09.471-02:002014-11-22T13:53:09.471-02:00I first I was like "What the heck?! But you h...I first I was like "What the heck?! But you hate RPGs?"

Then read the genre title again under the title of your post; Hybrid (Horizontal / Platformer)

I went "Hmmm?" Then went to the video.... "Hmmm... I thought the entire series was either Platforming or Platforming & Action RPG elements a la Zelda 2?"

The only games I want to give a very good try at getting into and completing are only the last 2 Genesis releases of the Monster Word games. With the last one having a fan translation completed. But it's the one that did get a release in English that interests me most. As it seems like a cross between Zelda II & Metroid. And the original NES Metroid is one of the purist pure bliss gaming experiences out there.

Anyways, back to this game.. er, let me finish what you wrote about it first. >_>;; ... Ahh, you played the Arcade version. I'm guessing the home ports aren't as hard, so maybe you should of started with that if you thought the difficulty prevented some enjoyment?

Now that I think of it, isn't this the one in the series that most consider the bastard child? And no wonder, it's got too much STG roots, lol. But I don't know, it look pretty interesting. But I'm going to go the home ports route when that time comes. Thanks for the warning. ;)

- SinfulAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
